In any event, I've got the right driver, but boy was that annoying.

I have no idea why the windows update installer refused to install it, although if I was forced to guess after looking through the inf, I would guess that it isn't a "universal" inf. The installation ran, and I am now running the correct video driver. I copied the two files and the folder out into my c:\work folder, right clicked the inf, and chose install. There was an install folder, with one driver and one subdirectory c0184226.inf and it's associated directory.

EDITING MY ORIGINAL POST.Īfter extensive further searching and a lot of misc keywords into the search engine, I thought to check c:\windows\softwareupdate\download. I honestly don't know where to go at this point. I've run DISM.exe, and it finds nothing to complain about. Therefore, I'm sort of assuming the problem is on my end. I know of no way for me to find out if the problem is in my Win10 install, or if AMD has supplied Microsoft with a bad INF file for this update, although one would think that Microsoft would have tested that install before shipping it out to the windows Sadly, windows update fails the install, saying Error 0x800f0100 which, when I look it up in the  - v20150630 pdf, helpfully tells me SPAPI_E_WRONG_INF_STYLE "The style of the INF is different than what was requested. Yesterday, finally, a driver appeared in windows update for an AMD Raedon HD 8570D, which is correct, and which is the driver I want. My video card has been running on the "Microsoft Basic" video drivers, which do not support multiple monitors, either directly, or using a USB video adaptor. I've been living without a correct driver for my video for several weeks.
